The author remembers his '57 Pontiac Bonneville, customized for showing off and drag racing in the cane fields of Hawaii. His car became legend at his Oahu haunts, until it was beaten in a drag race by a Triumph TR3 powered by a Chevy V-8. It was eventually replaced by a '59 Catalina coupe.

Joe Falk is a NASCAR owner who does not have a sponsor, yet he managed to participate the entire 1998 season. Falk used $3 million of his own money to continue through the season, finishing as high as fifth place in one race.
